Apple Tree Pharmacy Medicine Disposal Service

At Apple Tree Pharmacy, we’re dedicated to ensuring that unused or expired medicines are disposed of safely and responsibly. Medicines that are thrown in the bin or flushed down the toilet can harm the environment, and improper disposal can increase risks for everyone. We’ve created a simple process to help reduce waste and keep our staff safe.

Here’s how you can help us make a difference:

  1. Remove the items from their boxes
Before bringing your medicines to us, please take a moment to remove the tubes or blister strips (the plastic and foil sections containing the tablets) from their cardboard boxes.

  2. Place the items in a small clear bag
Once removed, pop all the tubes and blister strips into a small, clear bag. This step helps us identify and process them efficiently while ensuring our staff handle them safely.

  3. Bring the small clear bag to the pharmacy
Hand the bag to a member of our pharmacy team. We’ll ensure the medicines are disposed of securely and in an environmentally responsible way.

  4. Recycle your medicine boxes in your domestic recycling
Those cardboard boxes can go straight into your home recycling bin.  This small step reduces time and waste and supports local recycling efforts.

Please note: We do not accept sharps items. If you need to dispose of these, please contact your local council or healthcare provider for advice on proper disposal methods.

By following these steps, you’re not only protecting the environment but also helping us maintain a safe and efficient disposal process for our staff and community.

If you have any questions or need assistance, our friendly team is always here to help. Thank you for working with us to create a safer, greener future.
